I keep getting thrush-like lesions inside my cheeks and mouth. What disorders are associated with this? I used to get thrush when I would take antibiotics for other conditions. Many different things...too many to list, but here's a link to the list of possibilities on a site I use frequently. It is probably a yeast infection. In small children it is referred to as thrush. A yeast infection is caused by yeast spores which are present just about everywhere, and incubate rather quickly when exposed to a warm, moist environment. The two most common causes are 1- oral sex and 2- consumption, or rather over-consumption, of soft drinks. Symptoms will be a whitish film on the tongue, 'sinus problems', and an itching discomfort in the mouth, gradually reaching down into the throat region which is caused by constant swallowing of the yeast infection. Cures: 1- abstinence until the infection is cleared up with the proper medication, 2- moderate the intake of soft drinks. Oral candidiasis is also associated with some immunodeficiencies even HIV GREETINGS, some medications can cause the lesions, so can stomach acid that backs up in your mouth, yeast infections, lupus, and a few other conditions. Have you been tested for yeast first off? Thrush is an infection of the mouth caused by the candida fungus, also known as yeast. Candida infection is not limited to the mouth; it can occur in other parts of the body as well, causing diaper rash in infants or vaginal yeast infections in women. |
