Have you ever had your mouth or jaw wired shut?

If you have, I am writting a informative paper about thoracoscopic surgery for temporomandibular joint disorder.
I just wanted to hear peoples experiences while their jaw (for any reason) was wired shut such as eatting/weight issues, chapped lips, head aches ect... I would love to hear your experience!

I haven't but my brother did and my friend also did. They both lost about 15-20 pounds. My brother had headaches for about 2 months but my friend had no other problems.

Wire my jaw for chapped lips? weight loss? Totally not happening!!!

Mine was wired for a broken jaw and surgery years back. No fun...and pizza through the straw? Not the same.
