Motion sickness(CAR SICKNESS)?

My wife gets very ill when being the passenger in a car but when she drives she is ok.We can't even go to town witch is only a few minutes away or to her parents house witch is only 2 minutes away from our home.We can't go anywhere she gets very ill and when she gets out of the car has to go lay down for about 2 hours before feeling better. She has tried everything to help this.from dramamine to equate brand of motion sickness she has tried the patch you name it she has tried it but most of the stuff she tried makes her feel better but so tired she feels better but can't do anything but sleep.I was wondering is there something over the counter that really works for motion sickness but does not have the drowsy tired effect. Also if there is a doctor out there what can we do to help my wife's motion sickness. Please someone help cant go any where..

Bonine no longer has a drowsy effect. It's really such a short distance, it could help if you distract her. Talk, ask her questions, and tell her to keep looking at the road. She shouldn't look out the side windows. Also, it might help for her to have a little cup of sprite with ice. She can sip it while you drive. It will help her to stay cool.

The heat really, really gets me every time. Once you get overheated, the sickness quickly overtakes you. Make sure the car is cool when you're ready to leave. Roll the window down on her side to give her some fresh air.

Another major thing will help is spearmint gum. Spearmint helps settle the stomach, and chewing it will help her as well.

As for your driving, don't make quick turns, or stop too quickly. Gradually speed up and slow down.

If she still has problems, then maybe she should be the designated driver. Most who have motion sickness are fine to drive, because their mind is focused on driving.

I really hope this helps.

I use ginger pills.

Are you sure it isn't your driving?

If it's only 2 minutes away by car, could you walk?

OMG..i'm the SAMEE way. Normally what I do is drink some water and eat something..liker crackers..something that is easy on the stomach..(make sure she doesnt lay down, as this may upset the stomach), then try taking a Dramaine..and wait at least 15 minutes before going anywhere. That should do the trick. I hope this helps!
