Mononucleosis...enlarged tonsils?

For people who had mononucleosis....
Hey! I was diagnosed with mononucleosis ( I think I'm into my 3rd week) My tonsils are enlarged and painful...how long will they be like that? and when should I expect a negative monotest?

Thanks!

Everyone is different. Be sure to take your meds as directed and the recommended amount of rest. Hopefully in 6 weeks you should be in the clear.

from experience..get LOTS of rest! the more you rest the faster it will go away..but you have to give it time. i know how it feels to have mono..it doesnt feel very good. but TRY drinking fluids as often as you can.

Aww, you poor thing! Mono is absolutely no fun at all. The bad part (with the enlarged lymph nodes, sore throat and fever) can last up to a month if you're unlucky, and you can have fatigue and general unwellness for a few months after. Take it easy, get PLENTY of sleep, and when you go back to school / work, try starting off with half-days so you can re-adjust to it.
