I have been diagnosed with mononucleosis. Are there any particular foods I should stay away from? There's no restriction on diet, but you definitely need to avoid overexerting yourself or doing anything really strenuous. Don't play contact sports- your spleen (the site of the mono infection) could get bumped into, which would aggrevate the mono and make it worse. You're going to want to sleep all the time, so you might have to take time off from work/school. Mono isn't just pased by kissing- you can catch it from sharing a drink or even someone coughing in your face- so be careful not to pass it along. No. It will give you body aches and make you feel really tired for days on end. You need to stay home and away from others until your doctor clears you to return to your normal routine. i had mono wheni was younger and as far as i kow just rest and eat what you can i dont think there is any restrictions to food just dont share any with anyone for contamination reasons I had it and was in the hospital for 5 days so i feel your pain. You should stay away from sugary or salty foods. The most important thing is to drink lots of fluids. Mono dehydrates you and that is why i ended up in the hospital. So drink lots of juicy juice and water. And take some vitamin c. A long time ago I had the same thing. You can eat whatever you wish.In my day they didnt give you drugs to help with widespread infection,If you live with anyone or family, you most likely pass it on to them.Commenly called the KISSING DISEASE,duration lasts up to six weeks.you will feel very tired most of the time,sleeping14 hours a day,no appetite and in the end you will lose 25 pounds.Good luck, its just a matter of time |
