Reoccuring Mononucleosis? |
I have had Mono twice so far- in 2004 and 2006 and i am 42, I believe I might have it again. Why is this occuring? Also, will the antibody blood test always be positive for me, or, when the virus resolves, does the antibody test turn negative. Thanks I also had mono before and think I have it now. Well, at least up until today I was sure I had it again and my test was negative. Sometimes, the test shows a negative in the very beginning and will show up positive days later. If you still show the same mono type symptoms 2 weeks from now, they may do an esptein barr test in addition to the mono test. You may have the esptein barr virus that is dormated in your system. The strange thing about catching mono the first time around is that the virus itself is dormat in our throat and blood but can occur at certain times in our saliva even when the test shows up negative or with and without symptoms. Please get checked no offense but you should see a professional not yahoo answer people. SORRY. The antibody test will always be positive but your titer (levels of antibody) will go up with an active infection. The lab can run this test to determine if it is actually mono. Other things can cause these symptoms also, but if it is mono again, your immune system is weak for some reason (stress maybe?) well, it is possible, my son who is 16 has CEBV which stands for chronic epstein barr syndrome. it is due to abnormal elevation in a chronic time period. his levels never go beyond what is considerd the normal levels. |
