You can irrigate, moisturize and clean out the works just before bed without extra medicine.
Try a saline nasal RINSE (not a spray) A full warm water saline rinse goes in one nostril and out the other. It draws out all the gunk and shrinks the tissue (like swimming in the ocean). I've been doing it at work too.

The buffered salt doesn't 'sting' as much as plain salt water. You can use a new method like Nasopure, or the vintage, Netipot. The special bottle and salt is about $20.

You can do this a often as you like with no bad side effects.

You don鈥檛 need a prescription for this therapy. So if you live in a state like mine, they鈥檝e pretty much 鈥渙utlawed鈥?sudafed medicine. Drug-free is really the way to go on a frequent-use basis. (I put in a link for 鈥渨hat鈥?and 鈥渉ow鈥?鈥?there鈥檚 also some good info on wiki)

you can get an over the counter nose spray to use at night to lubricate your nostrils but with sinus infection you should get a prescibed spray from your Dr

sleep w/ pillows propping your head up so you back is straight for easy breathing. But make sure your head is not propped up so much that your chin is touching your neck... that will just give you a cramp in your neck.

If you have mono, you should really be talking to your doctor. I had mono in my teens, and it was nothing to play with. If you take somebody's advice from a source like this website, at least make sure to let your dr. know what you are doing. Good luck and get well soon.
