I have mononucleosis, but I feel like I am getting worse, not better?

I also have a lump on the back of my neck and my doctor asked if anyone in my family had cancer. The lump was apart from the enlarged lymph nodes, which have gone down, but I still have the lump. i don't have a sore throat anymore, but now I feel like I am going to die. I don't feel right. I feel fatigued and full of anxiety and I have body aches. Question: is something else wrong too and is it contagious at this point ( I have work tomorrow) and what do you think the "lump" is?

Sounds like the lump on the neck is a separate issue. Unless your doctor wants to investigate that further, I suggest you monitor it and if it changes in any way (size, shape, dimples, bleeds) report this to your doctor. I can't possibly know what it is. Speak to your doctor about it.

I believe you're still feeling the effects of mononucleosis and the Epstein-Barr virus can persist in your saliva for up to 6 months making you contagious. Please stay home for another week. Because the virus is in your saliva, you can spread it by coughing or sneezing , in any way spraying spit and by sharing glasses and utensils. Keep that in mind when you return to work. Don't give it to anyone there. There is another virus, cytomegalovirus (CMV) that causes symptoms similar to mono.

When I had mono a few years ago it got a lot worse before it got better. I had a terrible rash (all down my stomach, legs and on my butt- miserable I tell you).

Feeling miserable from mono is just how it is... that's to be expected, but I would definitely get the lump checked out again. Tell your doctor you are worried about it and perhaps they could biopsy it for you (take a sample from it and test it) to put your mind at ease.

No work tomorrow. It's not contagious if you've had a lot of antibiotics. I don't know about the lump, but it should be biopsied. If you still feel really badly, you need to see the dr ASAP.

Sounds like you're really suffering. You poor thing. Aside from the lump on the back of your neck, all the symptoms you are describing are symptoms of mono.

Please do not go to work tomorrow. If you exert yourself while you're sick with mono, you are simply prolonging the virus. It's dangerous to your spleen to do this. My doctor told me, when I had mono, that exerting yourself while you have mono can lead to surgery to remove the spleen, and then for the rest of your life you will be more susceptible to viruses.

Stay home and take care of yourself! Rest, get plenty of fluids, and wait to feel better.

its still prolly the swollen lymph node and yes it takes awhile for your body to feel normal. call in sick and rest and drink lots of fluids.
