Iodine for moles? Risks related?

I have moles. 16 on my face. I've seen a dermatologist- only option he spoke of is cutting them off.
I'm squeamish. Really. A lot. The thought of having a doctor come at me with a knife and feeling the skin around the numb mole tug as it cuts makes me ill.
Various sites and a few books mention the use of iodine in mole removal. Could this work? I'm willing to try it on a mole on my leg, to test it. I'm wondering if anyone knows any risks for applying iodine to a spot on the skin repeatedly for maybe a couple weeks?

If it worked there would not be the call for surgical removal.

I know someone who had three removed recently.

It was fine. Just book the appointment and take a friend.

Iodine will stain for a week or so, you'll look very silly.

If you do it, please email me a photo. Just don't do it, love

.

I wouldn't use iodine on moles. It'll stain your skin first of all and I have no idea how it will remove a mole. The mole is pigmentation in the skin, it's not a stain that can be rubbed off with solutions. If you are unsure of this doctor's opinion.....get a second and third opinion. Find a doctor who will remove them while you are sedated if that's what you want to do. You do realize that removing 16 moles on your face will create 16 small scars. Are they being removed for cosmetic reasons or medical reasons? If for cosmetic, remove one first to see how you heal. If I had 16 moles on my face I don't think I want 16 incisions.

Have you consulted a plastic surgeon? Sometimes they can be treated with a laser instead of surgically removing them.

I am trying it.. it is seeming to work somewhat but you have to be very diligent. I am using lugols (original formula).. it is makring the moles less noticable and sorta scabbing them.. it cant hurt to try.
It is amazing on my keloid.. seriously.. disapearing in front of my eyes (been using it a month and its half the size it used to be.. from about 5 cm long to about 2 cms)
I suggest experimenting with it yourself.

There is some info out there about lugols' and iodine promoting cell growth..

"There do not seem to be any skin lesions that are not helped or cured by this procedure. In some cases I found clinically obvious low thyroid conditions also needed to be treated to be more effective. Minor lacerations and healing of surgical wounds respond well. If skin regeneration is from the bottom, then there is little or no scar formation. "
