Removing Moles?

Anyone ever had a mole or moles removed? for cosmetic purposes? I don't think any of mine are cancerous or anything like that, but I have about 6 on my back that I'd like to have removed. Who does it and how much does it cost?

A dermatologist is the one to see concerning a nevus or nevi. Cost depends on location but since it's cosmetic, it wont be covered by most all insurances.

You would go to a dermatologist.

The cost depends on size and method used.
It would either be shaved off, like if they were to fillet it off or punch it out. Punching it out would be like scooping it out. That method would require a suture where as a shave would not.

It would be best for you to see a dermatologist for this. They will remove them and biopsy them if needed. They will also give you information on what to look for in moles such as color, size, boarders and such. Melanoma is the most dangerous form of skin cancer and a dermatologist will be able to tell if your "moles" are benign.

My regular doctor had removed some, and I had one burned a long time ago

I have had a few removed, but I don't remember how much it cost as insurance paid for it. It left small flat scars that are hardly visible. You do have to be careful not to pick the deep scabs that are left after the initial removal - otherwise you WILL have big raised scars.
