What are orthodontic molds like?

I'm getting molds/impressions, photos, and x-rays of my teeth today, because I'm getting braces. I'm scared, because of the molds. I tend to gag when they give me adult x-rays, so I have to use kid sized ones. When I had the fluoride treatment, though, I never gagged. What do they do when you go to the appointment, and any tips for me?

Thank you so much, it is mostly appreciated

i have had these done numerous times. basically, they stick a tray of blue stuff and stick it to your teeth, first the top row then the bottom row. you have to breathe through your nose, so make sure your breathing is very clear. and while this may gag you, dont feel bad. i've had numerous ones taken and i still gag occasionally. plus, im sure a lot of other people in the room have done it too. good luck.

well dont worry bout the exrays thet put these 2 things in ur ears and then something on ur nose and the molding is okay they put thiis pink stuff in this like mouth thing and mold ur teeth it tast terribal but rember to breath through ur nose at all times it works better 4 me then breathing through ur mouth and when u get them all it does is hurt ur lips cause it streches them out. around the night time that day it starts hurting really bad dont eat hard food 4 a while or itll hurt worse. {like 3 days} but anyway they give u floss and everything so u dont need to worry about buying stuff. make sure u floss ur teeth like after every meal. u will probaly get ur lips streched out. i gat a rash on my side of my mouth when i first got them and im not sure why. well good luck and no it dosent hurt at all when u first get them.

like a giant mouthful of peanut butter for 1 minute.

you dont gag because you can breathe as normal just stay calm, it does not hurt

Have them sit you upright. Then when they put the tray in your mouth, tip your head DOWN - look into your lap. Breathe thru your nose.

You'd be surprised @ the number of people that look UP.

That way it doesn't go down your throat.
It starts out feeling like a mouth full of cold oatmeal, then gets stiff - like really firm jello.
