Molds before braces.?

uhm, i have a VERY HIGH gag reflex.
what can i tell my orthodontist that is giving me my molds for my mouth.

i heard they gave you really nasty crap in your mouth and it's so gross and you have to hold your puke in and stuff.

so tell me something that i can do to prevent gagging! and tell me what i can do to tell my ortho to do to prevent me from gagging

I had the same problem. Tell your orthodontist you have a bad gag reflex, they might use warmer water so the molds set faster. Breathe out of your nose and you could try keeping your chin down, so you wont have to swallow. Good luck!

first you tell them that you have a high gag reflex. and second don't really think about it that much look at a poster on a wall or something and breath out of you nose and not your mouth. i am kinda like that too.

just dont think about it.
DONT BARF.

Theres not much you can do...when i had mine done, they put in the mold stuff and I put my chin to my chest so my spit and the flavor stuff from the mold material would drain out of my mouth onto the bib

You can ask them to using a spray numbing agent, and that will prevent a lot of the gagging. Also, keeping your tongue low, will allow for air to pass between the top mold and you tongue. The top will be a bother, but the bottom will not.

Don't worry about it! I spit all over my dental bill today, and I got the spray numbing agent. It works like a dream.

Breathe through your mouth so you wont smell it, thats what the nurse told me to do when i got mine done. Then think of something totally different to get ur mind off it. Good luck!
