Where can I get a retainer for teeth made from original molds taken after braces? |
Before braces I had a gap in the front of my teeth and when i dont wear my retainer it starts to resurface. I lost my retainer and after a couple weeks of not finding it I called the orthodontist to get another one. I was informed that they had to take a new mold instead of using the old one which fit perfectly. I was unable to get an appointment for another two weeks causing my gap to open up further. Upon going in they informed me that i needed to get braces again for about 6 months which I do not want to do. My teeth are not by any means crooked, just the gap, and i feel that this is an unecessary measure. If i forgot to wear my retainer in the past, and the gap opened, i would simply have to wear it for a couple days and the problem was solved. Is there some place i can send my original molds to get a new one made? I feel that they are simply trying to make more money... and I don't feel like looking like a teenager again PLEASE HELP! Thanks! I don't see why they can't just make a new retainer from the old molds that way your teeth will be perfect. Go to your ortho. and demand that (in a nice way though). I am sorry to have to tell you, but you will most likely need to wear the braces again. I had the same problem, and the braces allow for the gap to close, and your teeth to get more permanently aligned. If you "off and on" the use of a retainer, it is unable to perform its function. Go back to the orthodontist and ask him to take a now impression and have a retainer made. There are many people that will see gaps close with a retainer. Of coarse this depends if your teeth are still aliened. |
