Do the molds & x-rays [before braces] make you gag? |
I'm getting them pretty soon, so I'm just wondering. I have a pretty bad gag reflex, so I would liek to know. Molds and x-rays before braces didn't make me gag at all. I didn't even think about gaging (sp?) Why would you even think about gaging (sp?)? They don't put anything down your throat or even close to down your throat. Don't worry. Just relax and breathe. Good Luck. I gagged when they gave me mine. But the lady realized that I was gagging and she let them harden a little bit before they put them in my mouth. You can do it. OK i have had braces for 3 months now and the X-ray was fine and as long as you relax the mold is completly fine too, btw it taste like banana lol!.... hahahha. If you try to keep your tongue relaxed and keep breathing through your nose slowly, it will really help any gag reflex. Try to keep your mind on something else and remember to breath through your nose, not your mouth...it really makes a difference. Hopefully the person taking impressions will be good at it and it won't take long. Once the tray is placed remember to keep your chin down and not back. And again remember to breath... Sure its part of the body's reflex system. Make sure you tell the dentist (or whoever will be taking the impressions legally) about your severe gag reflex. They will then be able to accomodate your comfort level a little better. |
