Why do yeats and molds require a longer incubation time?

Yeasts and molds (even fungi) have generally more complex cellular structures compared to bacteria or viruses. This basic premise is the reason why they incubate longer, as it takes more time for their cells to divide and multiply compared to other pathogenic organisms, like bacteria and intracellular growing organisms like viruses.

This does not necessarily mean that such organisms like yeasts and molds cannot utilize the nutrients they need to grow as those are around them (and even at times only require the most minimal of nutrients to grow optimally); it's just that they require more time to allow themselves to multiply primarily because they are more complex in structure and other cellular functions than other organisms.
