Has mold affected my health?

Are there any tests to confirm long term health affects from exposure to mold. I rented a home in aug. of 06. Immediately after I experienced respitory problems, eye infections and memory problems. I purchased a mold kit at lows and sent the specimen away for analysis. Five types of mold were found.
alternaria, aspergillus, cladosporium, epicoccum and pithmyces. One of them is carcenagenic. I gave the report to the landlord. he said he would have it professionally removed, paint the basement and get dehumidifiers. All he did was replace the carpet in the kitchen. I became so used to feeling ill that I forgot what it was like to feel healthy. In April the furnace broke. I stayed with a friend and felt 200% better. I wrote the landlord a letter explaining all this. He immediately let me out of the lease and is sending my security deposit. But he's moving a family in there with KIDS. I never sued anyone, but are there test available to see if I have long term damage?

Hi...Mold problem is actually very serious and there are plenty of information out on this very subect. Both live and dead mold spores can affect people. The types and severity of health effects from mold vary widely and are usually hard to predict. It depends on the sensitivity of the person, the amount and type of exposure, the length of exposure, the types of mold and many other factors. Because it is typically not possible to establish a clear dosage and response threshold or trigger point, there is not enough scientific evidence to prove cause and effect for many of the potential or suspected health risks of indoor mold problems. Although there is wide variation in how different people are affected by indoor mold, long term or high exposure may eventually become unhealthy for anyone. Exposure to mold can trigger asthma attacks, may suppress the immune system or have other effects. The most common health problems caused by indoor mold are allergic reactions. People who are allergic or sensitive to mold commonly report: nasal and sinus congestion, coughing, wheezing/breathing difficulties, sore throat, skin and eye irritation, sinus and upper respiratory infections which are basically what you described having. Usually at greater risk of being affected more severely and sooner than others are: infants and children, elderly people, individuals with respiratory conditions or sensitivities such as allergies and asthma, and persons having weakened immune systems. I recommend you should visit and tell your doctor or health professional about your symptoms and mold exposures as some types of mold can produce harmful chemical compounds in certain conditions, but don鈥檛 always do so. Molds that are able to produce toxins are however very common. Hope this helps!

Call your health department they will condemn the house.
