Mold make me sick this quick??

Eh, just felt sick out of the blue today....well sorta sickish the past 2 days, but i haven't slept for more than 2 hour a night in the past week....normally though when i have these reduced sleep periods...i just feel tired, never sick. Not like smelly sickness, cuz i can't really smell due to allergies and the fact i'm a smoker.

Pretty much my a/c in my bedroom was leaking onto the carpet for a few months, but i didn't notice until a week and a half ago. Turned off the a/c and moved the bed. Half the bedroom floor is discolored, so i assume its mold.

It took a week to dry and the carpet cleaners were suppose to come, but still haven't shown up.

I usually keep the bedroom door shut and left the windows open....i sleep in the living room and only go into the bedroom to get to the bathroom. I did laundry too and kept my clothes in the living room too.

I know you can get really sick from mold...but wondering if a week and a half would be enough time.

My dad is a doctor, but out of the country and can't really get ahold of him. i'm gonna see him in a few days, just seeing if its something i should not wait a few days for.

You should definitely be checked out as soon as possible. Mold gives of toxins that can and do make people very sick. In the meantime if your carpet is still pulled back there are some things you can do to remove the mold spores from the floor beneath the carpet before the carpet cleaners get there. Remember it is very important that you also clean below the carpet to remove the mold spores otherwise you are just cleaning the top while the wood underneath will continue to harbor mold. First go and buy a cleaner that is also a fungicide/biocide (this just means that it kills fungus and all mold is a fungus - I like a product called Odo Ban) Next it would be great it you have a wet dry (shop vac) with a HEPA filter.
1. Remove everything from the room that came into contact with the wet floor. Mix the cleaner according to directions and spray it onto the floor until the floor is wet
2. Use a mop or rag to really rub the cleaner in.
3. Use the wet dry vacuum with the HEPA filter to vacuum all the water and dead mold spores from the wood.
4. Let it dry well and repeat above 1 more time
By doing this you are killing the mold spores & removing them from the wood so they can't continue to make you sick. It is important to dry it all well to prevent a recurrence and if you go to any hardware store you can buy a combination thermometer/humidity meter to check the humidity level in the room. To prevent further mold growth you need to keep the humidity level below 50% by using a dehumidifier or properly drained air conditioner.
Hope this all helps,
