Mitral valve prolapse regurgitation?

I am 24 years old and I have been to 2 different cardiologists, The 1st one said i had mitral valve prolapse with no regurgitation and the 2nd one said i have mitral valve prolapse with minimal regurgitation. All i know is the toporol xl they put me on doesn't work. My heart races all day and night and i'm constantly out of breath. I'm sitting at my computer short of breath and panting. I have to go back tomorrow for a halter monitor and an eckocardiogram. Does anyone else out their have these symptoms? My doctor said that the racing heart is a normal symptom but seemed to be stumped when i was sitting in his office panting. Is their any medicine out their that actually works to slow your heart down? This toporol is a joke!

Toprol??? Beta blocker, mostly used for HIGH blood pressure, NOT to be used for low cardiac output (see link attached).

With mitral prolapse, you should have a lowered output?

Hopefully you are seeing an actual cardiologist tomorrow for your ECG? If not, I would get into a real cardiologist.

If you have a way to monitor your blood pressure before tomorrow, try and watch it to be sure it doesn't go too low.

You have take number of tests before they declare that you have Heart Valve problem. Better go to a good Heart specialist in your city and ask them to examine your heart completely by taking all the tests and then come to any conclusion. Yours VRVRAO

I have mitral valve prolapse with very little regurgitation. The sensation I had in my chest was a fluttery feeling, kind of like butterflies. Instead of them being in my stomach, they were in my chest. My doctor prescribed a beta blocker. It slowed down the rate of my heart. It is very helpful. I hope you will feel better soon.
