I have a mitral valve prolapse.. can i still be qualified to work on board ships?? |
im a BS marine transportation graduating student and sad to say.. i have just found out that i have a mitral valve prolapse ( a heart valve abnormality)... can i still be qualified to work on board ships?? I do not really know the specific requirements of this profession. The significance of mitral prolapse however, depends of several factors. Look at this FAQ given the workload of required of marines, your heart may not be able to manage it because you ought to decrease your workload to let your heart pump more blood to your system. im afraid you won't be qualified if that is the case. there are valvular surgeries and transplants available that could help. |
