Has anyone ever had mitral valve prolapse misdiagnonsed? Is that even possible?

Three years ago I was told that I have mitral valve prolapse and i got an echo done at a different doctor's office and it revealed that i dont have that. How can a doctor misdiangose something from an echo three years ago but this echo say that i dont have mitral valve prolapse?

I went to med school for 2 years so that is my level of knowledge. A larger number of people have mitral regurgitation which is an insignificant finding for the most part. If you have mitral prolapse it is more significant along with other findings along with your age and general health. You may want to see another doctor too just to feel comfortable and at ease. There are different degrees of regurge and bending of the valve that will make some say that you have something significant point it out to you. There are types of exercises that some doctors can recommend that will lessen the strain on your heart and lessen the prolapse as well. This may even be the case for you that you have actually improved your condition. The same happened to me on different echos and I am a young man-the doctor said I had regurge. Hope that helps
