Heavy period after miscarriage?

I had a miscarriage in May at 12 weeks. Now, every period I have is really heavy for the first day or two, then is light for about 3 more days. On the heavy days, I use up a tampon in less than 2 hours and its really annoying. I didnt have a D & C after my miscarriage and my doctor said there was no need for a follow up appointment. Im pretty sure I passed all the tissue from the miscarriage at that time. I remember seeing the fetus in the toilet and afer I passed that, the bleeding slowed down. Just wondering if this kind of bleeding is normal after miscarriage and if it will slow back down with time? This is my 3rd period thats been this way. Also is there anything I can do to get it back to normal like getting on a certain kind of birth control or something?? Thanks!

I miscarried at 12 weeks.

Sounds like to me that your body is still healing from the misscarriage. You didn't say how far along you were. I know that after having my misscarriages (I have had three) my peroids were always crazy for about six months. Unless symptoms get more severe I wouldn't worry. Continue to see your doctor and keep him or her up to date.
