Miscarriage question?

i have had two miscarriages. the first i had to have a D&C and the second natural.....we have no idea why it happened....ok my question is this do you think its too soon to try again just two weeks after a D&C? Also is one month later too soon? (i had a missed miscarriage at 11 weeks)

i ask because i have two different doctors telling me two different things....

one says it doesnt matter how soon after a D&C you try again my body should have been able to hold the pregnancy

the other says it was way too soon and i should have waited three to six months before trying again. because one month doesnt give the body enough time to heal seeing how i was 11 weeks along.

i have looked online and i get the three to six months as well.....

some say i just went through some "bad luck" and the next will be fine.

i have been tested for a few things but not the big things yet. they want to wait until i have had three m/c before they do them....

what do you guys think the second m/c was from

trying too soon or something else?

just looking for some advice :)

both doctors were OBGYN

it has been 10 months since my first (D&C) and 7 months since the second. we are thinking about trying again and i have been taking pre natels since november.

1. I'm surprised the one doctor was telling you that it doesn't matter how soon after a D&C was done that you get pregnant. (Is one a general practitioner and one an OB/GYN?)

2. When I miscarried at 12 weeks (didn't find out until 14 weeks), my doctor was very adamant about waiting at least 6 months.

Most of the people I know waited at least 6 months before trying again.

I don't want to trivialize your lose, but there is a possibility that the 2nd miscarriage was because your body didn't completely recover and that it saw the baby as a "foreign object".

Take heart, take time to mourn and when you feel mentally and physically ready try again. You may want to continue with your pre-natal vitamins, it will just better prepare your body for when you try again.

having been through this myself, I was also told to wait between 3 and 6 months before trying again. Not only was it to soon after a minor operation, but my doctor told me mentally it was too soon. I wish you the best of luck

There's no way to know what exactly caused your miscarriage. It could have been that your body wasn't ready, or it could have been something else. I would definitely wait awhile now to let your body heal before you try again to get pregnant -- why take the risk of not having your body be ready yet?

Best wishes for a healthy future pregnancy.

I had a miscarriage a little over a year ago. I miscarried naturally with no D&C, and I was told to wait 2 cycles before trying again (we weren't trying in the first place, but the doctor wanted be sure that I waited long enough, just in case).

A D&C is a pretty major procedure for your uterus to go through, so you need plenty of time to heal. I wouldn't be surprised if the wait time after one is longer than for a woman who miscarried naturally.

Most miscarriages occur for unknown reasons. Most women will have one or more in their lifetime, many without even knowing that they had one. You can be pretty certain that there's nothing you could've done to prevent your body from miscarrying, and it's not your fault that it happened.

The 3-6 month wait is probably for other reasons besides a possible miscarriage. I'm betting it has more to do with infection than the risk of miscarriage, similar to the reason that women are told not to have intercourse for several weeks after giving birth. The uterus needs time to heal.

2 doctors seldom agree on anything as I've noticed. One told me my daughter had an underdeveloped diaphragm, another said it was a hernia, another said it was just a weak spot.
