My husband had a (mini stroke)?

hi my husband had a mini stoke a month ago, he didnt realise that was what it was untill he went to the drs cause his hand was weak, he is waiting for his results from his ct scan, on saturday his vision blured and he was dizzy, his hand was numb on sunday morning wouldnt go back to the drs said it was his colestrol tablets could he have had another one. i think he proboly has, hes a bit fed up with the drs at the minute but he is going to the diabetic clinic tomorrow. Is this likely to keep happening. its so worrying.

Your husband is at high risk of recurrent stroke. Mini stroke and strokes are the same process and are a harbinger for future strokes. Assuming he has no contraindications and his CT shows no bleeding, he should be on a platelet inhibitor to prevent future strokes. He also needs an Echocardiogram and Carotid Ultrasound as 80% strokes are ischemic and an embolic source (something that comes from the carotids or heart) needs to be ruled out. By far the primary goal is prevention.Once a stroke occurs very few people are candidate for thrombolytic therapy and the risks are high.

It's good he is seeing a doctor tomorrow. Go with him and mention all this to his doctor. Very important.

sounds like he has just had another one, my dad had a few

You husband's health appears contributing to his problems with his strokes. Yes, stokes tend to increase in number and severity if left untreated. Cholesterol is a major contributor to strokes and heart disease. You husband needs to begin walking and exercising, probably lose weight, eat whole foods. Diabetes is a big contributor to stroke, heart disease and organ problems. In many cases exercise and weight loss does wonders cure problems like this
