TIA "mini stroke"?

my mom had a TAI on friday and another one last night. does this mean she is probably gonna have a big stroke soon? will she die?

My mom has those. She has not had one in a while, but a big stroke in your mom could incapacitate her. My mom had to be seen by her doc, and he was able to give her a medication. They sometimes use anti-seizure drugs, to help prevent them. I can not answer whether or not she will die. That is something that is not in anyones control. Have her see her doctor. Every single time she has one, she should immediately go to the ER, even if it has passed, because it needs to go in her medical history. Good luck, I know how you feel, I still worry about my mom having one every day. I hope she is feeling better soon, and dont forget, get her to the docs.

Probably not but she needs to see the doc about these TIA's and get tested to find out what is clogged and possibly causing these and get some meds to help thin the blood.

TIAs are a good indicator of impending stroke. If your mom is being seen by a doctor and treated with the apropriate medications this will greatly lessen the chance of her having a severe stroke in the future.

Transient ischemic attack means a temporary disturbance of blood supply to a restricted area of the brain.
A transient ischemic attack (TIA) is focal brain ischemia producing sudden neurologic deficits that last < 1 h. Diagnosis is clinical. Carotid endarterectomy, antiplatelet drugs, and warfarin decrease risk of stroke after certain types of TIA.
Consult a cardiologist.
