Has anyone suffered a Transient Ishcemic Attack (Mini Stroke)? |
I was wondering as I had 2 in May, tests turned out ok, but I find myself extremely tired all the time. Is this normal? TIA by definition resolve in less than 24 hours, so fatigue can not be from your TIA's, see your doctor, anemia, thyroid disease, sleep apnea, could be some reasons, they could look for some more reasons too, good luck it is not! you have to watch out and be care full. ask your doctor how to prevent a real stroke! TIA are precursors so you need to see your doctor, or a neurologist to be specific! My Nanna had little strokes all the time in between her big strokes. Someone said, and they are right that little strokes are precursors to the big thing. I have a lot of experience as an outsider to strokes and it isn't natural this long after a mini stroke to feel so tired. You need to see your doctor. I am assuming you are taking aspirin daily for blood thinning. Did the doctor start you on Warfarin? Or something like it? I am hoping your blood pressure is good or that you are on bp meds because the main cause of TIA is high blood pressure. It weakens the vessels which leads to TIA. Exercise, dietary change and reliable meds and regular visits to the doc can rectify bp causes to TIA, but honestly it sounds like something else is going on in there. Don't mess around with this. These small "strokes" need to be totally checked out by your physician with a non-invasive carotid study. No needles just an ultrasound of the carotid arteries to see if you are obstructed and to what degree....Are you taking aspirin as well? It thins the blood... but get to your doctor immediately and follow his/her instructions. It does not cause tiredness. My mother had many full blown strokes but in between those the doctors said she was having "TI's" to which I assume is what you are referring to. They didn't seem to leave damaging effects like the strokes but the symptoms were very much alike. We would end up getting the paramedics and an ambulance to transport her to a hospital for evaluation. I guess it's very important to determine whether it was just a "TI" or another full blown stroke! Don't ask me why because I don't have the answer for you! |
