Milk Allergy??

I am wondering... I have been told my son has a milk allergy.. and I have been doing some research on the symptoms, and although he has most of them, my question is... Is it really possible for a milk allergy to suddenly show up at 2 1/2 years of age??? He has always drank milk, (well after one year old) and his formula was milk based... I always thought it would first appear in infancy.. So is it common to occur later on??? And if so, what would suddenly cause it??? He has just in the past few weeks been dealing with this.... Up until then he would drink 6 glasses a day as well as more with cereal and etc... But now suddenly, it has changed...

Sometimes allergies take a while to build up in the system and you won't realize it until symptoms appear. Chances are that this allergy didn't come on suddenly, it's been building for a while. Try soy milk. He should do a lot better with that.

The problem can be due to something inside the milk formula(If you buy powdered milk) . Try changing the product.

My brother had this problem and the doc recommended soya milk for some time. IT sort fo worked out in the end.

Its highly unlikely for a child to become allergic to milk all of a sudden.

my allergy appeared when i was in my mid-30s. instead of worrying about why he's got it now, educate yourself more on how to treat it. soy and almond milk are wonderful alternatives. learn to read labels at least 3 times before you actually serve the food -once in the store, once when putting away the groceries, and once before it's served. educate those responsible for the care of your son. educate your son!!
join a parent support group -see FAAN.org. utilize your pediatrician and allergist as resources. carry liquid Benedryl and an Epi-pen. learn CPR. make the diet changes for the entire family, not just your son -you will marvel at how much healthier you will become.
be vigilant when on vacation or at another's home. frequent the restaurants who accomodate your son's allergy. buy calcium enriched foods. remember that humans are the only animals on the planet who drink milk (and not their own species') after the age of 2!

Totally possible, my husband just became lactose intolerant about 5 years ago. Went his whole life drinking milk, then one day, no more
