My daughter has MIlk Protein Allergy!?

My daughter was diagnosed for Milk Protein Allergy at 6 Months old, when I tried to give her youghurt, she broke out of rashes and vomited, almost could not breathe. She was brestfed till she was 1 year old, and never had any problem with my milk(I eat dairy). Now she is 2 and a half year old, drinks ricemilk, growing fine, but it`s starts to get more and more difficult, since she can`t eat what other kids eat and drink at school and b-day parties. We can`t even kiss her after eating dairy, because she breaks out in rashes, and ichy bumps. Her doctor says almost all kids outgrow it by age 5-6. Is anybody know a child who has outrown the milk allergy, or can give me some advice how to cope with it?

I sugest, staying on the ricemilk, or almond milk. Both are VERY healthy. I drink rice milk and almond milk. Switch her up every once in awhile, You almost CANT outgrow it, until she hits puberty. I've had it since i was 2, I was dying from it. Do not give her milk please. The rice milk has great rice dream ice cream. vanilla is good! along with strawberry. I'd limit her to the other common allergens too.. And if she does goto b-day parties, load her up on zyrtec and bendrayl. It'd be good for her to do that. Because she could goto a birthday party, if she brings her own food, and they make dairy free, cupcakes and such now. I'm allergic to milk, eggs, wheat, soy, peanuts, pork, and others. I'm homeschooled too. If you need help you can email me mistress_fateful_destiny@hotmail.com I can tell you anything. When i went to school i couldnt eat with the other kids it was socially disturbing. i got made fun of so when she goes to school ask them to set a dairy free table. because like i know it wont be for awhile. and most schools should if you have a meeting they are required to if she is medically, having that kind of troubles. Enjoyfoods, has the best dairy free, gluten free foods!

Im that way too dont worry though Im only 11 years old and mine isnt as serious but Soymilk and lactose pills work

i have a son that had a milk allergy - couldn't eat anything with milk till about 3 or 4 - now he has some everyday

my daughter now has a milk allergy too - 15 months - she has soy milk, the vanilla is the only flavor she will drink but she loves it

do you have native american ancestry? i do, and have never outgrown it. the only thing i can think of is goats milk. there is a gene that you need to accept cows milk, and cows were not native to this land. there will be problems with yogurt, cottage cheese, ice cream, ect. some will accept, some wont. i still eat it, but suffer later. the bottom line is, theres nothing you can do except dont give her dairy products. remember, her doctor said almost.

My 6 yr old is allergic to milk and has to drink soy milk instead. When we take him to parties we always have to stop and pick up soy ice cream so he doesnt feel left out! Some times the other kids want to try his ice cream and they like it better!! We have tried several time over the years to introduce milk but it always makes him sick so, at this point I dont see him outgrowing it.

My baby had at 6 months. Then grew out at age 1.

I had another food allergy that developed at age 6 and lasted through my teens. A lot of kids have food allergies , your daughter will learn to adjust. Do not fret, she will be fine.

My son has a different problem; he is lactose intolerant. He cannot have dairy either. He is 12 and he has not outgrown it. I could not even have dairy when I was nursing. Be certain your daughter gets enough calcium. They make chewable calcium pills which taste similar to candy. Read the label to be certain they don't contain milk protein. Lactose pills will not help your daughter, since she has a different problem.
