Migraine and birth control pills?

Hi, I have been reading online and I have found Migraine caused by birth control pills is more common than i thought. I have migraine with aura, but before I started using the pill I had it like once every 2-3 months, if so! I started taking the pill in december, and a week later the migraine started very often, every 2 days or so. I related it inmediately with the pill and after the first box i called my doctor and she sounded surprised cause she says the pills she prescribe me are very soft (low dosis or something) the name is Yasmin. So i thought to try one more month. January I had no migraine at all! and then second week of february started again.

I am wondering if someone has the same problem? Does migraine caused by the pill goes away? I am wondering now could it be something else that caused my migraine since for a month with the pill i had no migraine at all.

Thanks for your help.

Yes, if you have migraines then birth control pills can make them worse. My doctor thought about putting me on birth control in order to reduce the number of horomonal migraines I get. They don't always make your migraines worse, though. In fact, some pills can make them better. Different brands and types of birth control pills affect different migraine sufferers differently.

It seems like you are taking one of the pills that makes you have more migraines. If the pills are acting as a trigger for your migraines, then the problem probably isn't going to get any better while you're on the medicine. Therefore, you're going to have to work with your doctor in order to find a pill that works for you. If you go to neurolgist or a migraine specialist, I would suggest asking him or her for suggestions.

I found an article on mymigraineconnection.com (great website for people with migraines, by the way) that sounds very simliar to the problem that you're having: http://www.healthcentral.com/migraine/c/... .

birth control pills dont cause migraines at all. I used to take b.c. pills and all they did to me was make me extremely dissey in the mornings so i had to start taking them at night. But you should take b.c. pills like everyday and not wait like a week or every other day or so.......
