Migraine Help!?

Yesterday I just had my second migraine. I actually stopped it by taking two advils and I got off easy with just a mild headache. The only problem is that the first migraine was on Thursday, and the second on Sunday. Migraines are very common in my family, but I don't know what's triggering them. I guess it could be lack of sleep or something, I just really want to know. For those of you who frequently have migraines, what are the causes?

Also, just out of curiosity, what is your ora (the thing that tells you you are going to have a migraine before you have it) Mine is like I've been looking at a light too long.

stress, tiredness, noise and brightlights
i get a sharp pain down the l/h side of my face before i get one.
your doctor can put you on meds that prevent them occuring, there are a few to try and they got mine sorted with the 6th attempt.
i still get them but far and few between

Try going to the chiropractor and having your neck bones realigned, my dad used to suffer disabling migraines before he visited the chiropractor and hasn't experienced them yet, and it's been 3 years.

When i have a Migraine I get a cup of hot lemon tea or just plain hot water and put it in my favorite mug and hold it up under my eye and the pain usually goes away.
Another thing you can do is steam up the bathroom by putting the shower on high temperature and sit there and read a book or something.

I hope your Migraine gets better!

The aura thing is just like you described. Mine usually happen in one eye though, the opposite of where the pain starts.

I have seen neurologists about my migraines, and the general consensus is that in most cases there really isn't anything you can do to stop them all together completely because no one really knows the cause.

I have heard that some foods like chocolate and dairy products can trigger them though. One neurologist had me write down everything that I ate every day, so I could see when I get migraines.

All in all though, migraines for those who get them are just something that people have to go through. I would recommend getting a prescription for Imitrex or something similar so you don't have to experience migraines at their full capacity.

No question about it, Migraines suck. I have been a sufferer for 15 years. After at least 30 different types of medication and numerous nuero evals, I was found to have Restless Leg Syndrome. The kicking of my legs in my sleep prevented a good nights sleep and thus a Migraine was born. The best thing in the world for me is Excedrine Migraine. It's a good blend of Acetaminophen, Asprin and Caffiene. It's a big $$ savings over the fancy prescriptions as well.

I have had migraines for years and recently a friend told me of a "cure" she uses, I tried it and it worked for me. Drink a cup of coffee, take 2 Excedrine for Migraine and eat a small piece of chocolate. I think its called "caffine overload" lol. This actually did help me. Anytime your headaches are dibilating, you really should see a doctor. There could be an underlying condition for your headaches.

Imbalance of body energies make meridians excessive/deficient. They inflame nerves connected to them. Inflamed nerves give pressure on nearby cells. Brain cells are most delicate and sensitive hence feel slight change in pressure and cause pain.
GB & UB Meridians pass over head and are generally responsible for h/a.
Alternate systems of medicines will only help you.
Pl try simple acupressure given below.

There is no medicine for H/A OR MIGRAINE. Not only these but for RA, OA, Back ache and almost all painful diseases. Hence they become chronic.

Acidity, WORRY, sadness, excessive wind, cold , heat, sour food and sinusitis, constipation, intestinal inflammation; drug side effects, stress, bad smell, TV & COMPUTER SOMETIMES, Blockage in the flow of Vital Energy, BODY CONSTITUTION etc are their causes. None of them can be treated with medicine. Our 100% success in treating migraine &H/A confirms it.

Acupuncture is the best treatment.
I can treat it with naturopathy and YOG, but how can you manage pl see.

Pain killers don't treat the pain but we loose the sense of pain for some time; in that duration our body itself treats sometime and credit goes to meds.

The useless drugs have tremendous power of side effects like liver/kidney failures, ulcer, inflammation of intestines and lot more.

Avoid late sleeping if possible; worry, tension, spicy foods, sour fruits, stale bakery foods, SMOKING and alcohole.

Sweet foods, COCOANUT WATER,sweet fruits, milk, rice, SPROUTS, SALADS and good sleep will help if cough is not there.

But you try one herbal remedy- two drops of drumstick leaves' juice in opposite nostril if one side pains and both nostrils if full H/A will give you rescue. Betel leaf helps but it is very strong.

If it is acute pl search a painful point 3-6 mm behind your thumb nail and press it, H/A will disappear within 30 seconds.

For forehead/eye pain the points are in front of nails on the finger tips or 3-7 mm below.

It may disappear naturally too.
Your body intelligance gives lot of indications, you need vision.
