I have a severe infection on my arm. please help?

i just got back from a 10 day fishing trip from mexico and came back with a mosquito bite size dot on my arm. I dont know exactly when i got it but i just remember waking up during the trip to find this bite on my arm. I didnt take it seriously at the time but about 4 days ago, it started to swell around the bitten area and as the days went by it began to grow and grow. It swelled my entire arm and now the bite is huge and yellow! It has alot of puss and im begining to think that it may be a virus. i looked up some info about my infection and i think i have a infection called "Methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus" which has a 30% chance of death! im terribly scared! im going to see a doctor tomorrow but if there are any doctors or nurses or health professionals in yahoo! answers, please help me! any diagnostics?

i cant afford an ER visit. i can afford to go on a fishing trip because i own a fishing tackle store.

I not sure if it's MRSA (staph)... Staph is pretty contagious (through the nostrils, etc), but most of the cases of staph I've seen were all transmissions through open wounds or cuts.

But, if it is MRSA, it is treatable with stronger antibiotics (but I have to admit, it is pretty hard to treat).

It seems like it might just be a bad bug bite. It might just be a really bad allergic reaction to a bite, or maybe even a poisonous bug bite. It's hard for me to say without actually seeing it.

DON'T BE STOOPID. GO TO THE ER RIGHT NOW. WHAT MAKES YOU THINK OU WILL EVEN GET IN TO SEE A DOC TOMORROW?? IF YOU CAN AFFORD A FISHING TRIP, SURELY YOU CAN AFFORD AN ER VISIT.

Yeah seriously get yourself to a hospital. This sounds really bad. For things like this there's no time to spare so right now i'd get off the computer and get down to an emergency ward honsetly..
All the best of luck i hope things work out and it's not too serious!
When i was in year 5 this boy in my year came back from camp and had a HUGE bite, they didnt know what it was. He went into hospital and they prepared his parents for the worst because he probably had more of a chance of dying than living. He got through it in the end and he's good and healthy now. They had to stop his heart a couple of times though.
Mate your health is more important than anything. Get yourself to the hospital because all the doctor will do is refer you to one because bites dont happen like that everyday. You can work out the money bit afterwards.

Edit: If the bite is as bad as you described it, they're going to treat it a an emergency case. They can't take a chance because you may develop a severe allergy to it at any time.

don't be scared.....9 times out of 10 people diagnose themselves wrong...so it's best to talk to your doctor. you could have been bitten by a spider, or some other insect.

Are you running a fever? Dizzy or light headed? Is the area oozing? If yes, go to the ER. If not, you can wait to see the MD tomorrow. They will culture the site (just a qtip looking thing, won't hurt). Be prepared for a hospital stay though for some IV antibiotics. It can be any sort of infection, not just MRSA. Death usually only occurs in those that have other medical problems in addition to the infection. The infection compromises everything for them and it then causes death.

Get to ER right now. You could lose your arm if you let the infection spread.

Could it be a bite from a Brown Recluse spider? Nasty little buggers. Good luck.
