Methamphetamine and ADD? |
okay here is some background history. my whole young childhood i have been "in the clouds" (commonly written in report cards) although i was never hyper. i became an honors student in highschool but due to very hard work. my memory is terrible. i cannot concentrate. i cannot understand anything that comes out of the teachers mouth and i need to learn everything through my own reading. and it seems to take me twice as long as everyone else to finish a project, because my thoughts are all over the place. however i can concentrate, to the exclusion of all outward stimuli, while reading a novel. however, even when i have enjoyed the book tremendously i cannot recall it at all once i have finished. my memory is perhaps my worse problem. i connect things that i never have before. but the most remarkable difference is with my memory. when i do meth i remember everything. i remember so many details of my life and things i read that i never did before. and i also gain photographic memory. in fact i learned german from a book in less than a week because i could photographically recall everypage in detail when i laid down to try and sleep. does this mean i have ADD? or is this what everyone experiences on meth? I have used meth daily (or almost daily) for about 14 years. I am definately addicted, but I think I can be relatively certain that I'm no more 'crazy' than the next person. I was drawn to the drug because of the same 'benefits' that you describe; improved focus and concentration, etc. I have been diagnosed as having A.D.D./without hyperactivity. Unfortunately, I was not diagnosed until recently, which means that I struggled through my childhood and early adulthood untreated. Then, without realizing it, I began to self-medicate. It makes perfect sense that a person would tend to gravitate towards a drug that seems to 'fix' what ails them. Don't you think so? I used prescription meth for Non-hyper ADD for several years with good results but I switched to Straterra due to long-term health concerns. Rather than dope-it-up, Straterra inhibits re-uptake to cause your natural-made brain soup to stay around longer ... addressing the same ADD needs. Report It Taking meth everyday to help ADD is a terrible idea because as you said it makes you crazy. ADD medicine such as ritalin and especially Adderall are very similar chemicals to meth, Adderall is also an amphetamine and the "high" is very similar but much less intense. |
