please help!

Oh man I was addicted for about 2 years, too.

I never talked to myself, but I had uncontrollable mental issues such as excessive paranoia or anxious and very antisocial when I never used to be before I touched that crap.

It's a horrible drug, but at least he quit! Many people never do quit for life. They will go back to it once in a while, at least, but not me, and I hope not your brother. I know it's scary, but I've had friends who became like that, too. But I saw them a year or two later and they were perfectly fine. Going to school, getting good grade. I myself have completely gone back to normal as well and am doing very well. It's as if I never touched the stuff. It's kind of hard to get over, though. He needs to stimulate his mind, and he may forget certain things from the recent past from when he was on the drug. It will have been somewhat of a blur to him, so remind him of things that make him happy - his favorite food, music, hobbies.

In the meantime, I found the best thing to do was to be around other people, like close family members or really old friends (not people who are a bad influence though). Talk to him, spend as much time with him as possible. It seems to bring the sanity back to them. If it's really bad, take him to a therapist. To be honest, I don't see how medications will help with this, I found that no medication could help me. It was all about giving it time, being healthy and starting my life over from where I left off. This was the same for my friends as well.

Realize that the drug seems to still stay in your system for a couple years, but it gets better and better with time. Most doctors DON'T know what to do about a situation like this! I'm not telling you not to trust the doctor, but no doctors have ever been able to study someone who's been on meth consistently for a long period of time. They have no idea what it's like - it's different reading about it than having been there. Make sure you find someone who's actually dealt with many people in your brother's situation before letting them prescribe your brother medication. You'd be surprised the mistakes some doctors make when they don't know exactly what's going on.

Best of luck to you and your family, and just be patient with him. He'll come around.

encourage him to get involved in something that he has an interest it. help him get a guitar or a good book to read or some art supplies. I've been there when I was younger and the sad reality is that the only person who can end it all really is him. All you can do is be there if he needs you and make sure he knows of all the places he can turn for help.

Just be there for him. talk to him ask him to go places with you like to the basketball court to a movie, fishing, ext. Ask if he wants to play some ball outside or maybe a board game or video game. Tell him how you feel. Let him know you love him and that your there for him. Good Luck
