There are MANY reasons a person might start using meth.

Meth triggers a cascading release of norepinephrine, dopamine and serotonin. In short: it makes you feel much better... the problem in that it has undesirable side effects and produces a recurring compulsion to take it again and again and again and......

Now you ask WHY: the answer is more or less simple: animals and persons need some free time or break or timeout a few times. Brain can not cope in a superhero fashion with problems and frustrations.

So there you have alcohol and many other substances and tools to decrease or evaporate problems for a while.

How bad it is? Well, some people need a pression valve, some dont. THat could be getting drunk or crying or fighting or whatever...

You choose your way, and you pay the price, whatever that is...
