Methadone and Alcohol combination?

I am new to Yahoo qs and didnt realise you could write below the first line..veery blonde of me. SO in response to the person who called me dumb -well you're prb right! :)
I have been taking methadone for 1 year afer a becaome addicted to painkillersafter a near fatal car accident., (the painkiller gave me 4 stomach ulces which saw me lose ten kg ..i am a size 6 anyway) so went on methadone.. what i was trying to say was methadone aka done, doesn't give a buzz now.. it's not like i take it for euphoria..it's preventative..so i amjust sitting here at work after taking my dose at 8am feeling normal..and tonight i will have 2-3 glasses of wine, and feel a little light headed..like anyone.. does everyone still think this is a potentially fatal mistake?

even if i take the methadone at 8am and have my frst drink at 8pm?
I know it;s still in my system but surely it's better than taking them at the same time? it's out ofyour system in 20 hours.. so it's def on it's way out..
I understand what you're sayijng i have done it LOTS before with no danger..but then u can say that abuot driving..about lots of things.,.it's very veyr hard when i am in my early ttwenties and all myfriends drink lots.

Hon honestly you can have a couple glasses of wine. If you have adjusted to your dose and do not "nod" out or fall asleep randomly, then you are "stabilized" and will not get any more drunk than the next person. HOWEVER, your ability to drive might be a little more impaired, so be smart and call a cab or get with a friend.
May I suggest that when you choose to quit, you taper at the rate of 3 mgs a week until 20 mgs, then 2 mgs a week until 16, then 1 mg per week until you reach about 9 mgs, then maybe 1 mg ever other week. It is a TOTALLY painless way to get off methadone!!! NO withdrawls! The trick is to go slow, and your body adjusts to being drug free again. You REALLY don't want to be on meth for very long!

Dont drink anymore alcohol. The combination of them both can suppress your respiratory system.

Yeah, be careful. Even though methodone might not give you a buzz any more, it is still a powerful opiate and something that shouldn't be mixed with alcohol. If you have 2 or 3 glasses of wine, you'll feel like you've had 6 or 7.

It isn't impossible to mix methadone with alcohol, but I'd keep my alcohol intake at one glass. Methadone will "potentiate" the effects.
