I need to know where to go for Medical Care for my 9 yr old daughter.?

I noticed my daughter growing & maturing too fast about 2.5 years ago. After about a year her Dr. sent us to an Endocrinologist. She was diagnosed with Metabolic Syndrome, started on Lupron injections, put on a low carb diet. She is in menopause now but her Insulin level continues to climb, so they added metphormin. Now due to frequent UTI's an Ultra Sound revealed an enlarged spleen. And the Endocrinologist noted that in 5 years there has never been a clean urine sample they all show blood & protien. We are trying to get in with a Nephronogist and Hematologist. My daughter complains of back pain, has gained 80+ pounds in 2 years, is 4'10", she swells in her face and hands. Some days she feels good and others you would think she was an old woman. Some one some where has seen similar problems, please help.

Has she been tested for Cushing's syndrome ?
Check out this website for more info and remember to get a cortisol free 24 hour urine test.Do not be talked into a blood test.

I wish you luck.

I'll be honest. I do not know a good doctor to recommend. Have you tried Children's Hospital? Living in the Boston area, we've always considered them to be the best resource for the kids. I know there are other Children's Hospitals highly regarded in the US.

Have you done a google search for this syndrome? You may find information that way. A friend's son had suffered from a different, rare childhood affliction (I'm not sure of the name) and she found a lot of information when she ran an Internet search (good and bad information -- be careful and run anything and everything through a physician.)

Good luck to you and daughter. I wish you the best.

Well I have seen this on TV latley about girls develpoing too fast and they get injections to slow everything down......now what kind of Dr are you looking for???if you are looking for a Dr that takes care of 9 year olds just for her basic health I would say Internal Medicine Dr. and for all her other problems I would go to a specialist....BUT Besure to mention all the other issues you are having with her to the new Dr.I wish you the best of luck!!!!
