What is the remedy for Burning Feet Syndrome? I have been suffering from the disease since 5 years.?

At times I feel the same sensation on the face, ears also. Its so severe that at night, I have to wake up to soak my feet in the tub of water. I feel restless on the calf and sole too round the clock.

Tried Vitamin C, Methylecobalamin, Neurotropic vitamin (Neurobion Injection) on prescription. Now, another doctor has prescribed four-drug regimen, namely Aspirin-75 mg, Methylecobalamin tab, Vitamin C and Amtriptyline 10 mg to be taken once daily at night.

Is it a metabolic disorder? Does it happen due to high metabolism rate? If so, what are the other complications of hyper-metabolism rate? Is it due to hyper-thyroidism or hypo-thyroidism? Should I visit an Endocrinologist?

By the way, I have been gaining weight too, despite being pure vegetarian, and taking not-so-rich food. I am 32, 5.5", and my weight is 86 kgs.

Burning feet usually indicates adrenal exhaustion, and often a vitamin B5 deficiency.

I would recommend taking a B5 supplement with a B complex (never take any of the B vitamins on their own as they use each other in their metabolism, so if you take just B5 you might become deficient in some of the other B vitamins).

Adrenal exhaustion usually comes from too much stress in your life - or rather, not managing stress as well as possible. Adrenal exhaustion will cause other hormone imbalances because the adrenals feed back to the pituitary gland, which governs all the endocrine glands, so can end up causing hypo- or hyperthyroidism, diabetes, and menstrual irregularities.

There are a few herbs and vitamins that can help, including Vitamins C, B5, B6 (with a Bcomplex), magnesium (especially if you have cramps or restless legs), potassium (found in vegetables). Good herbs are Siberian ginseng, Gotu cola, Licorice (herb, not confectionary), Astragalus (especially if you are getting lots of infections - colds etc).

Adrenal exhaustion will also cause weight gain as extended stress increases the cortisol in your body, which makes you gain weight, especially around your middle. Anything you can do to manage the stress in your life (taking time to be by yourself in nature, meditating, yoga, a relaxing bath, laughing, spending time with friends etc) may help both the burning feet and the weight.

Good sleep and relaxation is important, as is good nutrition. A soup made with lots of vegetables and some grains (like pearl barley or oat seed) can help provide the nourishmant that the adrenals need in an easily assimilated form. Also eating oats is good for the nervous system, which is also likely to be compromised if you are stressed.

I hope this helps, and if you need more suggestions, feel free to email me.

This conditiond sucks - and hopefully hou have a Dr that helps you find what works for you - good luck

I never heard of this until I saw your question. Another name for it is "Grierson-Gopalan syndrome". I did some research and found some interesting articles. See the links in the "source(s)" box below! Please take note "I do not know these sources well, so their accuracy is questionable and not known to me."

I implore you to consult your doctor for advice before you start any treatment for any condition.

Sincerely,
Terry

Consult a neurologist first.
There are few conditions that could be completely curable with medicines. So be hopeful.

Hypothyroidism can cause keeping in mind your weight gain and other symptoms but consult a neurologist first. Dont read any articles on the net as the possible causes are numerous and many times scary.

Best is to find and treat the cause. Even if no cause is found there are medications that a good doctor can help you get.
Good luck.
