How quickly does Mercury evaporate?

A friend found a broken mercury thermometer in her bathroom drawer. She's concerned about exposure to mercury gas since she doesn't know when it broke. How long would a thermometer-sized amount of mercury evaporate at room temperature? If it takes days, then it probably happened recently -- months and it could have been evaporating all this time.

Thanks!

i would be much more concerned with the physical contact to the liquid absorbing through the skin. as far as the heat of vaporization....not sure. that shouldn't be enough to worry about.

mercury poison is contact or oral consumption.
The thermometer used today does not have "real" mercury.
Think that stopped about 1975 or before.
Unlikely that a problem exist. Take out drawer wash and rinse.
