Mercury/quicksilver spilt from a broken thermometer?

A guy at work spilt mercury from a broken thermometer. I tried to clean it with a damp cloth. After a while I noticed that the mercury got onto my skin, merging with the water. I tried to wipe it all off. Now my skin is red and I have weird lines on my skin. Is this ok or is it really dangerous? Is there something that I can do, should I go see a doctor?

It was silver and did form some balls but didn't really move around as much as I expected. When it was on my arm, it was just almost like silver paint, it spread around. Now i have some really faint dark lines, they look like scars but they dont' hurt.

yes yes yes definettly see a doctor!
u should have left it alone and called out a special person to come!! you obviously have no idea how dangerous murcury is

did u know that if there is a mercury spill at a science lab in a school then they evacuate the building?

i will pray for u i hope u are going to be ok

go to the doctor now if it is Mercury, but unless it is a very old thermometer mercury has not been used in thermometers for years, another substitute is now being used, Mercury poising is a medical condition and must be diagnosed by a doctor.

when cleaning up Mercury spills a special Hasmat kit must be used ( Haserdus Material kit )

your getting posined through your skin

This is no good for a law suit. The mercury is a disinfectant and affects the nervous system not the skin . We used to use Mercurochrome on cuts. The red is from a germ infection from scratching the spot . The thermometer may have been in a contaminated place in a hospital. Be very careful.

was the liquid in the thermometer red or silver.
if it was red it is NOT mercury it is red dyed alcohol.
the dye used will stain your fingers.
mercury will NOT merge with water.
mercury will NOT stick to your skin.
mercury is a heavy liquid silver metal.
mercury will form small silver ball that roll around.
mercury will not enter the body through the skin unless high pressure is used.
just touching mercury is harmless if you wash your hand after contact
