Touching Mercury...(crap...)? |
It was like... couple years ago... a thermometer broke and i touched mercury.. I washed it off, but im still worried it can do damage... so far... i had no symptoms of mercury poisoning... but should i still be worry? Most household thermometers don't use real mercury, so your worries are likely unfounded. But even so, we used to play with the stuff when I was a kid. There's really nothing to worry about with a brief single exposure like that. There are rare cases of massive exposure, but most of the neurologic horror stories you've heard are about long-term repetitive exposure. no. touching it does not do anything. it's consumption, can be fatal. i /would/ say no/ after/ all this time/ call/ er/ and/ talk to them Touching and ingesting in small doses are not armless, but the vapours are toxic when inhaled and that's the greater danger, even in small quantities. The good news is it works fast, so if you had mercury poisoning you'll know by now. Mercury is a metal, that evaporates at very low temperatures and it is possible that a broken thermometer could have enough mercury to poison you. but the effect would have been noticed by now. |
