Mercury vapours? is their a link to mood swings/amxiety and depression and amalgams?

many holistic doctors say they have concluded with experiments that amalgams give off mercury in the vapour form which is easily absorbed in the cells and brain which is contributing to my problems...is this all quackery? why do they insist this is a problem when dentists claim that amalgams are perfectly safe? holistics say they are hiding the facts so they dont get a lawsuit since its been a big scam? I dont know what to believe.

thank you for all your responses!! I do have 15 amalgams which is a concern to me but yes its best not to get them removed.

I did a toxicology unit at university this year, and the academic recommended that if we had mercury fillings not to remove them, as it does more harm than good.

The academic still has his fillings.

In Sweden they have banned the use of amalgam fillings in under 18's - so that tells me there is enough scientific research for a government to believe those claims that amalgam fillings are toxic... at least to those of us who like children don't have a fully operative immune system.

However as mentioned in a previous answer it takes a lot of skill to remove those fillings without actually causing worse toxicity. To my mind the sensible thing is to not get any more amalgam fillings but ignore any already in my mouth... unless there's direct evidence that they are causing my troubles.

Although your fillings may contribute to your mood problems it is unlikely they are the sole cause... and that means there is plenty you can do to help yourself without having to decide what to believe about amalgam fillings. In fact worrying about such things is often a symptom of that kind of illness... you really are best off putting your time and energy into some of the many proven techniques for improving your mood that don't require surgery (removal of amalgam fillings would most definitely not be a quick fix for you). Mind training of any kind would definitely help you.

Good luck!
