Mercury lightbulbs?

at work we recently got new lighting and someone threw the lightbulbs in the trash and some broke. My question is..i cleaned the trashcan out with cleaner liquid but why do i seem like something bad is going to happen to me? Is it enough mercury to do harm?

I would go with solid state LED lighting over CFL's just because they are safer. No risk of brain or nerve damage.

You weren't exposed to enough mercury to do anything.
If over a long time they were doing this, then maybe, one or two bulbs wont hurt. Unless you got it on your skin and it absorbed into body or inhaled it.
