impact of children with mental retardation on siblings in a family very little negative,..and super positive effects. I don't really get the question. sorry but we need more info. It usually does not cause a problem because the siblings have learnt to accept their Brother Sister with their problems and often assist with them Depends on the family. It can make all the children more tolerant and compassionate towards the plight of others when they grow up in a family where one family member has a developmental disability. A child with developmental disabilities can be a challenge, but also a resource for learning how to overcome much and shows their siblings that not all people are the same, or even need to be the same. Cannot be totally avoided but can be minimized! We have a son who is and his older sister understands better than most adults about dealing with him. Although it is a strain but she does very well with him because we've talked to her about his special needs. |
