Mild mental retardation question?

Can someone with mild retardation memorize there social security number by themselves?Can they feel out a deposit slip at the bank?Can they hold down a job without any special supervision?Can they be so normal that no one could tell they have retardation?

I have worked with people with mild retardation who could do these things. I can't say that no one knew because obviously I did but they got by fairly well.

i have also worked with people with milld retardation and they have lived normal lives, one of them owned his own house, had the same job for 15yrs doin the same thing everyone else was doing, drove his own car... hey he is even married..

Not likely intellecutally impaired person would be able to memorized a SS number, and fill out a deposit likely they are not MR. Borderline people its porable likely to occur, but no one wants thier on child diagosed with intellecutal impariement of that type. IQ does not determine MR alone ethier because thier gotta be other factor involved like adapting to thier external enviroment and such. Most clincals I think would err on the side of caution to diagose MR, but thier some people with MR can work regular jobs, own a house, have a wife. Still, i think memoriazation is possible, but I think its hard engouh when normal people dont know thier ss number at times.

try giving the ssn digits verbally in 3 2 4 pattern. then pat the
table while saying the digits this way do it again, this time ask him to join you. do this once more but pat the person instead of the table it'll help attach the number to the person

try singing the pattern if they like music. practice writing it
the pattern for a phone number works the same except its a 3 3 2 2 pattern you can find some deposit slip worksheets

some can have jobs & i havefriends that are relitivly normal apart from being a little behind socially

The best treatment of mental retardation is primary, secondary and tertiary prevention.

Now, if you are asking if they can fill out their social, or land a job, the answer is yes...but of course, their skill will be the basis for whatever job they will land into...you know what, as long as there are people who are willing to give people with mental retardation a chance, they always have a chance to live in this world....
