Mental age?

What would usually be the mental age for people with mild, moderate, severe and profound retardation?

1-3 (severe)
4-8 (moderate)
9-12(mild)

My 13 year old has a span of 6months to 2 years. It will vary with each person.

why do u want to know?

5

I believe the best way to judge that is through IQ

mild- 13?
moderate- 9
severe- 4
profound, 2?
idk man, thats a crazy thing lol

It really depends on the severty of the retardation. Usually they do testing to determine at what age level your mentally capable of classifying. I've seen people with the mentally handicap of a 3 mth old as well as a 7 yr old. Your doctor should run tests to determine at what age range the handicap is.

According to the hospital criteria, they just judge by IQ. That's based on the abilty to comprehend a set of tests. They dont really talk about age. If you did want to put an age to the level of retardation, mild would probably be 7 to 8 years old-moderate would be 4-5 and severe would be degrees of infancy. This just makes it easier for the lay person to judge someone's comprehension.

Someone i love is 4 yrs old and has a moderate intellectual disability, mentally he is 2.Early intervention and the appropriate therapies are essential.People can make progress when they have the right care

I think it is different with each individual.

it depends on the person.
