Is 'muscle milk' safe to drink?

there is an article i read which claims that muscle milk is toxic......it says that the supplement contain glycocyamine which in the long term causes mental retardation and a disease.
any one know anything about this....

I've always been partial to Biotest's Metabolic Drive. Muscle Milk has never really done it for me, but that's not to say its bad. Some of the chemicals used aren't so good for you and can cause problems, but its much the same way artificial sweetners aren't good for you. Yes, they may have complications, but what concentrations are necessary for the development?

If becoming a brain-dead vegetable after doing a working is what you mean by toxic, then no it is not safe to drink.

But, you need to know if you are allergic to what is in it first off. If you have problems with glycocyamine, then you do not want to take it. There are also other similar compounds that are in the same family. See a doctor about this first - it is very important.

I would drop dead about 15 minutes after taking this. I have a severe allergic reaction to this line of compounds.

As for becoming braindead, the chance is always there - but it is extremely extremely small - you would have to use it in large quantities for several years to really approach the point of having to actually WORRY about dropping dead or going into a coma after a workout.

So, is it safe? No. But is it usable? Yes. But as with all things you need to err on the side of caution, AND you need to know your body and it's limits intimately before doing anything like this.
