Mental health question??

is it me or is mental health promblems rising.. i hear more people being dianois with a mental health issue in the 2000's.. then i did in the 1980 or 1990's..or do you think more people or just more open about it these day's?

There are a few factors that are causing what you recognize here. First, society is becoming more accepting of mental health issues. In the past, there was severe negative stigma attached to having a mental health disorder either within yourself or even within your family. So most families would take someone with a mental health problem and attempt to hide them by either keeping them contained in the home and out of the public eye, or by locking them away forever in an institution which was little better and sometimes worse than prison.
With this social acceptance, more people are now able to come forward and seek help when they are having mental health problems and they are learning to realize that, for the most part, you can have a mental health problem and not be "crazy" as it was believed in the past.

Also, the way we live in society is changing. In the past, people who were suffering from depression, anxiety, and other mood disorders would tend to turn to the church for help and their interventions were religious ones. As religion is becoming less and less prevalent and science more prevalent, people are turning to the medical model of intervention instead.
Also, along the societal change idea, life is become harder and more stressful for people. Especially those who suffer economically. So mood disorders are becoming more common as a result of this.

So you see, there is no one answer and I am sure that with some study of research you can find even more reasons for this change/rise in mental health issues.

Mental problems are rising.

I think all of the chemicals they add to our foods these days, along with newer immunizations and just the world being waaay busier (more thoughts racing through our heads and things to do) than it used to be has caused a real increase.

I just think that evil in this world is increasing and Docs. dont know what else to do except to diagnose people with mental illness

I'd say both scenarios are happening at the same time. For one lifestyle in general for most people has become increasingly stressful which might lead to several mental disorders. On the other hand we are more aware than we used to be with our mental health and science has become more and more advanced in detecting ill traits of our minds.

I think the more we become disconnected from the real world, the more mental health problems we have. So I think the answer is - both. More mental health problems and more openness.

I think that people are more open and educated about it now than they were before.

The mental health crisis is rising. I believe due to the fact that we are more advanced in diagnosing and treating these disorders. Help is becoming more widely available and more people are seeking treatment.
