Is Mental Health still needed and relevant today? What are the recent findings/breakthroughs in Mental Health?

Any new studies in the Mental Health Field? Is there a rise in people's interests towards Mental Health in general? Is it needed and relevant in our present day?

I think there is a increase in mental health awareness in some areas eg depression. I think there is definately still a need for mental health, it affects every part of our life. But becuase it's such a wide area one thing can stigmatise everything else...eg violent mental health patients, people's perception of schizophrenia.

I don't know if there is a rise in interest but i do know that there are hundreds of thousands maybe millions who take advantage of mental health facilities and lead a happier more productive life because of it.

While there are people that suicide, self harm, molest, murder, rage etc we need mental health facilities to assist them in stopping their unhealthy behaviour and lead a better life for themselves.
The current statistics on youth suicide is just frightening in modern countries. We need a better mental health system if anything.
