Can someone translate some mental health/social work jargon into USAese for me?

I'm considering moving to the UK and would like to exploring mental health positions. But I can't make sense of the mental health degrees /titles/ job positions. I will have my terminal social work license in the States (LCSW) which followed my Master's (MSW) and two years supervised therapy. What qualification does this translate to in England? The position I would like would be working with kids ages 2-18 in a mental health setting (not in a hospital or residental placement or going to client's homes) doing individual, family and group therapy. I don't want to just do assessments or case work. What kind of organizations hire for this kind of position and what is the usual title for this position (for example this would be "outpatient" or even "school-based therapy" provided by a "mental health professional"). I'm mainly finding positions in the UK entitled "Senior Practitioner" or "locum qualified social worker" working in a "Children and Family Team."

I wish you would consider remaining here in the USA.
Our children need help badly.
There are many opportunities here.
If you go to the UK, they will be lucky to get you.
I used to work with Hard to manage Children & Teenagers.
They get scimpy healthcare breaks. Nobody wants to bother with them. I love my kids and teenagers!
As far as finding out what the titles mean, Colleges and Mental HealthCare fascilities should be able to help.
Perhaps you can email them, or contact someone in that area.
Being a Social Worker, that should open a lot of doors, maybe contact an ED of a hospital for children/families organizations. They should be able to interpret the names for you.

Also contact Support Groups of this nature.
The Medical field is changing so many old names for new ones in the Medical Structures.

Sometimes, the new names/titles are misleading...believe me, I know from experience.

I know they should be glad to help you. No one is going to turn away someone willing to help families and children in need.

Good luck on your New Adventure...
and Have a Happy Career!

You have to be certifiable to want to move to that Commie Paradise, Great Britain.

DUCK-QUACK!........Cheeeerio......!

The jobs you describe are mostly nursing jobs in Britain not social work.
Social workers in Britain are usually care managers or residential socail workers.
