Mental health assessment forms?

I've been going to a psychologist for depression. I was given a self assessment form (the one for 8 -18 year olds or whatever the age was) to fill out. I'm being very honest filling out the form, but I was wondering what wishing to be the opposite sex had to with mental health? Is that a symptom of a disorder? Why do they want to know?

I do not know the specific test you are talking about. However, that question might be relevant in determining if depression was related to transgendered issues. It can also be screening for transgendered issues. It can be screening for identity disorders. It can be seeking information regarding identity confusion as it related to personality disorder.
I understand how one could sit back, scratch one's head, and say: What does that have to do with anything, but actually it does relate.
I would suggest discussing your concerns with the one who ordered the test.

Ha, I know what you mean. I've taken those self assessments before too. I think it might have something to do with being bipolar...But trust me, I don't think they just want to find out if you're gay.

it's called transsexualism. You have to have counseling before you can change gender to make sure you're trans gender and not just confused as the consequences can be great.
