Irregular menstruation....is it normal for a 17 year old who got her menstruation at 12?

my cervix mucus is white yellowish and thick...is my menstruation starting soon?...

YES, IT IS NORMAL TO BE IRREGULAR ..I LIVED WITH MANY FEMALE FAMILY MEMBERS AND WAS ALWAYS TAUGHT THAT STUFF..YOU MAY NEED BIRTH CONTROL PILLS TO MAKE YOUR PERIODS REGULAR..YOU COULD BE GOING TO START YOUR PERIOD..ALSO BIRTH CONTROL CAN GIVE YOU FALSE PREGNANCY FEELINGS ..BUT , THAT DOESN'T MEAN IT WILL HAPPEN TO YOU..ALSO YOU MAY HAVE YEAST INFECTION ,IF THERE IS A YELLOWISH ,AND /OR CREAMY ...WITH ODOR DISCHARGE!

This is usually a bacterial infection which can be caused by poor diet. Go see your GP for a test because if it is an infection you will a course of antibiotics.

yes,,,( swm) is correct....see your gynecologist for some help here

Possibly, it could be "leakage" as my family calls it, or it could be something more serious such as a yeast infection or bacterial infection. The general rule of thumb is "if it has a distinct odor, color, or staining after being washed, you need to go to the doctor."

Oh, and it is perfectly normal for you to get your period at 12. Ask your biological mother and grandmother when they got theirs, and subtract 6months to a 2 years for evolution in each generation. I have an African American friend who got hers at 9. She is normal, well, for a close friend!

The change in discharge does mean that your period will be coming soon. If there are additional symptoms, such as itching or a persistent strong/foul odor even after cleansing the area with soap and water, then you need to check with your doctor for an infection.

Irregular periods can happen to any woman at any time for multiple reasons: Aging, family history of irregularity, hormone imbalance, etc.

If it continues to bother you and/or you're trying to get pregnant or keep from getting pregnant, see your gynecologist and soon.

Also, consider an acupuncturist for treatment. Their needles and herbs can help better tone your organ systems (esp. gynecologic) and better regulate your hormones, your flow, etc.

Again, don't forget that over time, it's not at all unusual for your periods to change in character. But, if there is anything at any time that is troubling to you, do check in with your gynecologist about it.

If after a doctor visit, you're still uncomfortable/uneasy with your:

--Condition,
--Their explanation of your condition,
--Their investigative studies/efforts to address your condition,
--And/or your doctor's medical treatment--or lack of treatment--of your medical complaint(s)

...then, do not hesitate to get a second opinion. NOT EVER and GET ONE IMMEDIATELY.

Always seek several recommendations at any one time from female friends, co-workers, and relatives to suggest to you a good gynecologist or ask who do they see (whether it's at the college campus' heath center or a local doctor near your home).

P.S.
If nobody's ever told you: At 17 to 18, you need to start having regular Paps and gynecological checks annually anyway--regardless of whether you are sexually active or not.

If you were sexually active at any time BEFORE age 17, then you should have been going to see a gynecologist for annual check ups from that point onward.

Good luck. I think this is going to turn out all right.

No idea.

Ask a Dr.
The discharge could be caused by an infection.

It is normal to be irregular but if you have any other mucus or discharge it could be sign of an infection, you should go see your gynocologist for a check up and tell them whats going on.
